Want to learn how to repair your own clothing? Want to help save the planet? Then this class is for you! Taylor teaches via Youtube how to mend your denim. In this class you will learn how to repair and reinforce a blown out crotch, knees, as well as add cute patches to them with visible mending. Taylor will demonstrate how to sew the hard to reach places and answer some frequently asked questions on her methods, revealing some secret tricks. This class is beginner friendly and does require you to use a sewing machine. Must have general sewing knowledge. How to thread a machine, wind the bobbin and switch different stitches etc.

This class is a recording via Youtube and you will receive the link via download with this purchase! This recording is about 50 minutes long. 45 mending tutorial and how to add a patch to a crewneck at the end : )

The techniques show in this class can be applied to other materials outside of denim, but the main focus being thicker material since it is the most challenge to navigate. Taylor will go over how to appliqué a quilt patch to a stained crewneck at the end of the class to demonstrate another form of reworking distressed clothing.

What you will learn

  • how to add cute patches to knees, and butt

  • best needles to use for thicker material

  • how to cut and iron the fusible interfacing when layering multiple pieces of fabric before sewing (and why)

  • sewing machine with different stitch capabilities i.e. zigzag & appliqué stitch

  • seam ripper

  • good scissors

  • distressed /damaged denim (100% cotton is best, no spandex)

  • scrap denim for reinforcing

  • extra cute fabric for patches if desired

  • sewing pins

  • iron & ironing board

  • iron-on fusible interfacing (optional)

  • flirty drink (not required but recommended)

  • crewneck and patch, if you’d like to make one!
